A weekend in Benidorm

DCB spent a weekend in Benidorm and would like to share the experience with you. For a weekend getaway that blends sun-soaked beaches with a rich tapestry of history, look no further than Benidorm on the eastern coast of Spain. This vibrant city, once a humble fishing village, has evolved into a bustling tourist haven that seamlessly integrates its storied past into a modern coastal paradise. Join us on a journey as we explore the perfect weekend in Benidorm, where every moment is a blend of relaxation and historical discovery.

We stayed at Hotel Villa del Mar which is located on the first line to Poniente beach, a few hundred meters from the old part of Benidorm. There was plenty of cozy restaurants and good amenities nearby.

The room was spacious and offered a jacuzzi bath as well as panoramic views to the Mediterranean Sea.

On the 9th floor was a lovely spa and a large rooftop terrace, both with absolutely stunning views.

The staff of the hotel was very service minded, the food and the whole experience was great so this was a 5/5 from us.

Levante Beach, with its golden sands and crystal-clear waters, provides the ideal backdrop for a leisurely morning. As you soak in the Mediterranean sun, take a moment to appreciate the city’s transformation from a quiet village to a bustling coastal destination.

The Old Town, where narrow streets and traditional Spanish architecture transport you to Benidorm’s early days. Explore the charming Plaza Mayor and visit the Church of Saint James, a historical gem that stands as a testament to the city’s humble beginnings.

Take a leisurely stroll along the iconic Balcon del Mediterraneo, a cliffside promenade offering panoramic views of the city and coastline. Don’t forget to capture the perfect snapshot of Benidorm’s impressive skyline, a blend of high-rise buildings juxtaposed against the azure sky.

For a cultural experience, visit the Maritime Cultural Center, where exhibits showcase Benidorm’s maritime history. Learn about the city’s seafaring roots and the evolution that led to its status as a sought-after tourist destination.

As the sun sets over the Mediterranean, head to Poniente Beach for a breathtaking view. The warm hues painting the sky create a picturesque backdrop for an evening stroll. Benidorm’s nightlife comes alive with a myriad of bars, restaurants, and clubs. Experience the city’s vibrant energy as you enjoy local cuisine and perhaps dance the night away.

Conclusion:

Benidorm, with its blend of history and contemporary charm, provides the perfect weekend escape. From the historic Old Town to the modern skyline, this coastal gem offers a diverse array of experiences. Whether you seek relaxation on pristine beaches or a journey through Benidorm’s past, a weekend in this Spanish paradise promises memories that linger long after you’ve left its shores.
